Siddha treatment for Cervical spondylosis

Age-related wear and tear in the cervical spine (neck), which can cause neck discomfort, stiffness, and other symptoms, is referred to as cervical spondylosis. Osteoarthritis of the neck is another name for this ailment. This section of the spine naturally deteriorates over time, which is spondylosis. Over time, cartilage deteriorates; discs lose volume, dry up, and crack; ligaments may thicken; and bone spurs may develop where bones rub against one another in places where cartilage is no longer present. Spondylosis is the medical term for all of these alterations. Your spine may change as you age, which is regarded as natural. This wearing-down of the spine probably starts in your 30s. Nearly 90% of people by the age of 60 develop cervical spondylosis.

Cervical Spondylosis

A risk factor for cervical spondylosis is getting older. In addition to your age, smoking or having previously smoked increases your risk of developing neck discomfort or other cervical spondylosis-related symptoms. People having one or more family members that suffer from this illness. People who strain their neck frequently while performing their profession, such as when you spend a lot of time each day gazing overhead (for example, painters) or downward (for plumbers or flooring installers), or when people keep their head in an incorrect position for an extended period of time (for example, staring at a computer screen that is too high or low). People having a history of neck injuries, perhaps from auto accidents. They lift things a lot, like construction workers. They are subjected to a great deal of vibration, similar to bus or truck drivers.

Since this illness is one of the Vatha disorders, it is necessary to restore the originally disturbed Vatham. Purgatives or laxatives are administered for this based on the individual’s body type and Naadi type. Internal medications are then given in accordance. Techniques for physical manipulation known as thakkanam, such as oil massage, kizhi or formentation, steam baths, or vedhu, are efficient. A few neck, spine, and arm exercises are suggested for the patient. Both yoga poses and pranayama are powerful. Various purgative medications include Agasthiyar Kuzhambu, Kowsiyar Kuzhambu, Megha natha Kuligai, Vellai ennai, Vatha nasa thylam, etc. These medications are administered on an empty stomach at the correct dosage and according to the body type, age, and other factors.
